Terms of Use
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Welcome to Citrus.Expert, a community dedicated to citrus cultivation, gardening, practical experimentation and sharing knowledge.
These Terms govern participation in the forum. By registering an account or submitting content, you agree to follow these Terms and any applicable community guidelines.
For questions, contact support@citrus.expert.
1. Community purpose
Citrus.Expert welcomes beginners, experienced growers, researchers and anyone with a genuine interest in growing citrus and other plants.
Discussions should remain relevant to the community. Related subjects—including soil science, irrigation, sensors, greenhouse equipment and cultivation experiments—are welcome where they support gardening or plant care.
Community and off-topic areas remain broadly connected to plants, gardening and the people involved in these activities.
2. Your account
Provide a valid email address and keep your account details up to date. You may use a display name; you must not impersonate another person or falsely claim an affiliation.
Keep your password secure and notify us if you suspect unauthorised access.
Do not create accounts to evade restrictions, manipulate discussions or mislead other members. Do not use another person’s account without authorisation.
If you are a minor, participation must comply with the rules applicable to your age and country, including any requirement for parental or guardian permission.
3. Respectful participation
Treat other members with respect. Disagreement, questions and constructive criticism are welcome; personal attacks and intimidation are not.
You must not post or use the forum for:
Threats, harassment, hate speech or targeted abuse.
Fraud, impersonation or deliberately deceptive claims.
Unlawful content or activities.
Publishing someone’s private information without a lawful basis.
Copyright infringement or other violations of third-party rights.
Spam, repetitive promotion or unsolicited commercial messages.
Malware, phishing or attempts to compromise accounts or systems.
Sexually explicit material or graphic content unrelated to a legitimate discussion.
Deliberate disruption, repeated derailment or evasion of moderation.
Spelling mistakes, mixed languages and differences in experience are not, by themselves, grounds for moderation. Discuss ideas and evidence without ridiculing the person contributing them.
4. Quality of information
Make a reasonable effort to distinguish personal experience, opinion, experimentation and established evidence.
Do not invent results, sources, qualifications or first-hand experience. Disclose relevant commercial relationships when recommending products or services.
If you share AI-generated or substantially AI-assisted material, check it before posting. Do not present generated observations, photographs or experimental results as genuine evidence from your own cultivation.
You remain responsible for content you submit, regardless of how it was created.
5. Gardening advice and experiments
Forum contributions are shared for general information and discussion. Conditions vary by climate, cultivar, rootstock, growing medium and cultivation method; an approach that works for one member may not work for another.
Before acting on advice involving pesticides, fertilisers, chemicals, electrical equipment or other potentially hazardous methods, check applicable rules, product instructions and appropriate professional guidance.
Do not treat plant identification or a forum discussion as confirmation that a plant, fruit or substance is safe to consume.
6. Your content and permissions
You retain ownership of the intellectual property rights you hold in your contributions.
By submitting content, you grant Citrus.Expert a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to host, store, reproduce and display it as necessary to operate the forum. This includes technical formatting, backups and displaying contributions within discussions and ordinary forum features.
This permission does not transfer ownership of your work or authorise unrelated commercial exploitation.
Only upload material you own, have permission to share or may lawfully use. Credit sources where appropriate. Attribution alone does not replace permission where permission is required.
Other members may quote reasonable excerpts within forum discussions, subject to applicable law and these Terms. Publishing content here does not make it freely available for unrestricted reuse elsewhere.
7. Moderation
Content may be reviewed following a report or during routine administration. Not every contribution is reviewed before publication.
Depending on the circumstances, moderators may move or merge discussions, request corrections, restrict visibility, remove content, issue warnings or restrict an account.
Decisions should take account of context, seriousness, repeated behaviour and the rights of those affected. Serious abuse or urgent security concerns may require immediate action.
Where appropriate and legally required, we will explain the reason for a restriction. You may request review by contacting support@citrus.expert, identifying the decision and explaining why you believe it should be reconsidered.
8. Reporting problems
Use the report function, where available, or email support@citrus.expert to report content or behaviour that may violate these Terms or the law.
Include:
A direct link to the content or enough information to locate it.
A clear explanation of the problem.
Relevant supporting information.
A way to contact you if clarification is needed.
For copyright complaints, identify the protected work and explain your authority to act for the rights holder.
Submit reports honestly. Deliberately false or abusive reports may themselves lead to moderation.
9. Advertising and member exchanges
Commercial promotion must comply with the rules of the relevant forum area. Unsolicited advertising and promotional private messages are not permitted.
Where member-to-member exchanges are allowed, participants are responsible for agreeing the terms and checking the other party’s identity, the condition of the items and any applicable requirements.
For plants, seeds and propagation material, this includes relevant plant-health, import, export and shipping requirements.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, Citrus.Expert is not a party to these arrangements and does not provide payment protection, inspections or guarantees.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled and how to exercise your rights.
Do not publish private messages or another person’s personal details without permission or another lawful justification. Sharing information confidentially with moderators to report abuse is different from publishing it to the community.
Acceptance of these Terms does not replace consent where separate consent is legally required.
11. Website security and access
Do not attempt to bypass access controls, obtain private data, interfere with the website or place an unreasonable load on its systems.
Automated access must respect access restrictions and must not disrupt the service or unlawfully collect personal information.
Report suspected vulnerabilities privately to support@citrus.expert. Do not exploit them or publish information that would expose members to harm.
12. Availability and responsibility
We aim to keep the forum useful and accessible, but availability may be interrupted by maintenance, technical faults or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Member contributions express their authors’ views. Their appearance on the forum does not mean Citrus.Expert endorses or verifies them.
Keep your own copies of important photographs, records and other material you upload.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or removes any mandatory rights you may have.
13. Leaving the community
You may stop participating at any time and contact us to request account closure.
Closing an account does not automatically remove all contributions. Content may remain where its retention is lawful and necessary to maintain discussions, subject to your applicable rights and the Privacy Policy.
The permission to display retained contributions continues only to the extent necessary for those purposes. It does not override data protection rights or other mandatory legal protections.
14. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated as the community develops or legal requirements change.
The revision date appears above. Material changes will be communicated appropriately, with advance notice where reasonably possible. Where renewed agreement is required, we will request it.
If you do not accept updated Terms, you may stop participating and request account closure.
15. Applicable law
These Terms are governed by Belgian law, subject to any mandatory protections and jurisdiction rules that apply to you.
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
